WinterKids family event students light up the night with timelaps of flashlights

Week #3- Family Engagement!

Another busy week of Winter Games activities at the Harrison Elementary School.

In addition to the many activities students did this week in their classes, our 6th and 4th graders (3rd and 5th go next week) had the opportunity to ice skate at Bridgton Academy! Many thanks to B.A., and the staff who helped organize our visit. It was amazing to see the students working together to support each other; many students had never skated before! Students are already asking, "When do we get to go back!?"

4th and 6th graders visit BA for ice skating!

Back at school, students completed activities this week that continued to get them outside and exploring, including writing haikus,  journaling about their senses, playing outdoor word games, writing cards, remembering to show acts of kindness, etc.

Cross-Country Ski Club also started this week! Thank you to the HES staff who are donating their time to help get students outside and active after school. Many thanks to the families for providing transportation to their students.

Our annual WinterKids Winter Games Sledding Night was a success! Even with the start of freezing rain, we had a good turn out and were so excited to see our families from both Harrison and Waterford having a great time. One of our school board members came for a visit-the support of our communities and school board enable us to continue providing learning and community-building experiences for our students. We appreciate the support of our school's PTO and Hannaford Supermarkets for the delicious hot chocolate!

Shout out to all the families that also participated at home by returning their BINGO boards-we hope these activities were a fun want to get active outside together.

Also, don't forget that WinterKids has an amazing FREE app for families to sign up for that gives some great discounts (or even free) towards winter activities. You can keep the WinterKids Winter Games fun going through the end of March!
