February 16, 2022

Good Afternoon,

We are closing in on February vacation.  Time is flying by for me!  We have been busy learning here at Hebron Station School, celebrating kindness and the love of reading.  Read more about our Kindness Tree and our Hebron Loves to Read contest on our new webpage discussed below.

We are excited to have Courtney LaCroix, school secretary, as our newest HSS staff member.  Many of you know her from the before and after school D.E.P.O.T program or from her many weeks of subbing in the position since it became vacant.  Courtney was officially hired last week after being interviewed for the position.  When you call, she will most likely be the one you speak to first.  She is busy everyday learning all of the many components that a small school secretary must take care of.

When we return from February vacation, HSS will be conducting a catalog fundraiser to help us raise money for our end of year carnival.  Traditionally, HSS has held several fundraisers throughout each school year to raise money for such things as field trips, scholarships, field day and the carnival.  With Covid19, all of those fundraisers have not taken place.  We are in the position of needing to raise some funds if we want to have our end of year activities.  Please watch for your student(s) to bring home the Simply Spring catalog on Tuesday, March 1.  Several other schools in the district have used this fundraiser and have been successful.  An online catalog is available for families to share with loved ones and friends.  More information to follow.

Recently, MSAD17 upgraded all of the district web pages with a new, more dynamic interface.  Please visit the Hebron Station School website to see our new look.  Courtney and I have been regularly adding to the Live Feed and News sections.  We are also keeping up with the Events calendar.  Check it out!

One of the items you will see in the News on the website is information about PreK fall ‘22 enrollment.  If you are an Oxford Hills School District resident and have a child who will be four years old on or before October 15, 2022 or know of someone, the child is eligible to register for preschool.  To receive a preschool application packet, please contact Marjorie Scribner 207-743-8972 ext 8268 or email at m.scribner@msad17.org.  Provide the following contact information: child's name, child's date of birth, mailing address and/or street address (if different), parents' name(s), and contact telephone number.  Preschool applications will be available in a few weeks and we accept applications throughout the year.  More information about the program can be found at www.msad17.org.

Finally, some reminders.  During drop-off in the morning, if you need to get out of your vehicle to support your learner getting out of the car, please pull into a parking spot.  This will leave the drive open for those who are dropping and going. And speaking of mornings, remember our start time is 8:30.  Students arriving after 8:30 are marked tardy.  You can drop off as early as 8:15.  Please be sure your learner is here before 8:30.

As always, it is a pleasure to be serving the staff and students here at HSS.  I hope you have a great February vacation week with your family and are able to spend some quality time together.  I will be away for the week in California attending my oldest daughter’s wedding on 2/22/22.  I asked her if she was going to get married at 2:22 p.m. but she opted for 4:30 since it is a Tuesday and some people have to work.  Fun!

Best,

Jamey
