Hebron Station School

June 6, 2022

Dear Families,

We have approximately two weeks of school left! As educators often say, it’s hard to believe the school year is coming to an end.

As you may already know, we have two staff members retiring who have served Oxford Hills and Hebron Station School for many years. Anne Witham, who has taught in the district for 33 years of which 31 years have been in kindergarten in Hebron, and Lydia Eusden, 5th grade and 5th/6th Stem teacher for 16 years, all in Hebron. The knowledge these two staff members have will be missed. They have worked tirelessly over the years, not only in their classrooms , but on committees and special projects. The small staff is like a family and we are fortunate to have had them with us. They will be missed.

As with all end of school years, there are several events happening. Be sure to see the end of the letter for the dates of Field Day, the 6th grade celebration (with an updated time), the Carnival, step-up day, and the Treasure Hunt. WE STILL COULD USE SOME VOLUNTEERS! Please call the office if you can help at the Field Day or the Carnival.

At the beginning of this school year, Hebron Station School joined the district initiative to begin using Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is an evidence-based, three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. The process focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students.

Part of the data that is used comes from parents. PBIS surveys help educators improve the school climate. We missed giving the parent survey in the beginning of the school year and now it is time for the spring survey.  We need your input.  Please complete the online survey linked below. It can be completed by family, or multiple surveys can be completed per child. Some students may have had different experiences and your answers would not be the same for each experience. Also, surveys can be completed by both parents/guardians, whether they are in the same household or in different households.

The survey will be open until this Friday, June 10. Please help us out and complete a survey so we learn about your attitudes and beliefs about Hebron Station School. The results will be shared later in June.

Finally, I was hired as the interim principal in November when DJ took a job at the central office. The school board will be voting this evening on the Superintendent’s recommendation of hiring me as the Principal of the school. I am honored to have her nomination.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.  Remember, we could use some more volunteers for our end of year activities and we need your input on our school climate survey.

Best,

Jamey
