Welcome to First Grade!
First grade is a fun year with many exciting and challenging things to learn. I hope you are looking forward to it!
A little bit about myself- I grew up in a big family, and I’ve always wanted to work with children. I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maine at Farmington and my Masters in Literacy from USM. This will be my 18th year in teaching. Prior to teaching first grade, I taught third grade for ten years.
In addition to being a teacher, I’m a busy mom of three children. My daughter, Zoe, is going into eleventh grade, Leo into fourth grade, and Ellie is attending Kindergarten.
To prepare for first grade, please read a lot of stories every day. Continue to practice writing and saying your letters and sounds. It is important to play games and have conversations about daily adventures. Have fun!
My family and I are looking forward to going to the beach and spending time together!
I hope you have a safe summer!
