Dear Families,

We have jumped into our school year with positivity, energy, and enthusiasm. This has been seen from the staff and the students. I feel honored to be working here with your children and the staff.

I am writing with a few updates and notes:

  • During arrival and dismissal, we may not get to phone calls. If you call between 8:30 and 8:50 or 3:00 and 3:15, please leave a message. If you call with a dismissal change, please call us as early as possible. Changing a dismissal at 3:00 will most likely be missed.

  • At Monday’s School Board meeting, the 2022-2023 Covid Protocol was passed by the board. The protocol is linked here. It can also be found on our Hebron Station School web page. The nitty gritty is those with Covid are to isolate for 5 days and then may return to school masked for 5 days. We can test students at school if a permission form is completed by parents/guardians. Otherwise, we have testing kits we can send home. If you have any questions, you can contact our school nurse, Kimberly Bell.

  • If your 4th grader is interested in trying strings, or your 5th/6th grader is interested in trying a band instrument, the instrument night is September 13, from 6:30 - 7:30 at the high school.

You may have heard about how Hebron Hawks S.O.A.R. from your child. We have been teaching our school wide and classroom expectations through our S.O.A.R. acronym.  When student can tell me what each letter stands for (Safety, Open to Learning, Accountable, Respectful) they can earn one of our positive recognition tickets. These tickets can be used in the classroom for classroom rewards, or they can be saved to buy an experience with a staff member, such as having lunch or playing a game. Students are earning tickets for being ‘caught’ following our expectations throughout the day. Be sure to ask your child if he/she has earned any tickets and why it was earned. Attached to this letter are our school wide expectations for your review.

Open house is coming up on September 21 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. This is a chance to meet your child’s new teacher and see his/her classroom. Longer conversations during this meet and greet will be better served via email or at a separate meeting that you can set up with your child’s teacher.

We are always available to answer questions. Please send an email or give us a call.

Best,

Jamey
