December 9,  2022

Dear Families,

Winter is almost upon us, but it doesn’t always feel like it. It has been a warmer than usual fall which we are enjoying here at school. Our first trimester ended at the Thanksgiving break and teachers are working on completing the students’ progress reports. The reports are due to be sent home on Friday, December 16.

As you may know, through our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), students earn tickets for following our school expectations. With those tickets, the students purchase experiences. This has been going strong since the beginning of the year. To date, we have had 75% of our students purchase an experience. Seventeen percent of students have purchased two or more experiences. The top choices have been: making cookies - 17; be a teacher’s helper in another classroom - 15; help with dismissal - 15; and read to a younger class - 15. Students are feeling recognized and positive when they get to choose a special activity. With half of the school year coming up soon, I am looking for more experiences to add to our choices. If you have any ideas, I would love your input.  I will put our current list at the end of this letter so you can see what is already being offered.

December is full of activities here at school. Our after school holiday crafting is happening on Tuesdays. Classrooms are finishing up decorating their doors. Pictures will be shared on our website and Facebook next week. Our Band/Orchestra/Chorus concert is Monday, December 12, at 5:30. All students and staff will be making a card for another student or staff member - names were drawn out of a bag. The cards will be shared the last week of school. The last week of school will be a spirit week. The  flyer is shared by the classroom teachers. Finally, the 6th grade bottle drive continues which is helping them raise funds for their end of year gift to the school. Ms. Dudley is excited about all of the donations they have received so far and reminds everyone to keep the returnables coming!

We are always available to answer questions. Please send an email or give us a call.

Happy holidays to you and yours,

Jamey
