Harrison Elementary STEM and Lead Teacher, Rob Ripley

Rob Ripley, STEM and Lead Teacher, Harrison Elementary Grade 6 is the Maine Science Teachers Association's pick for the "Science Spotlight" this month.

This is what his nominators said about Rob: Rob is a committed teacher to his 6th graders at Harrison Elementary. He works to keep kids engaged and learning science through hands-on activities such as dissecting a cow's heart, and often teaches outdoor lessons. His students feel like science is fun. He connects with kids throughout his small school, serving as the lead teacher for the school. Rob integrates technology into his lessons, most notably to support formative assessment of learning. Rob serves on many district committees, focusing on curriculum and instruction and creating a space for learners that is engaging, standards based, and exciting for students. Most recently, Rob kicked off a grade level meeting with all district k-6 teachers to share the work of our elementary science committee.

We are so happy we get to work with you, Rob!
